Luckily, today we will go through a step by step process that allows you to confidently confront your printer and stop piggy backing on your work’s free printing. Be proactive, learn to change toner cartridges today.

The first thing to do is to know whether or not the printer is low on toner. If the printer is low on toner, it will most likely tell you so with a message. This warning message means that you have a couple hundred pages left to be able to print. The average toner cartridge can print anywhere from one thousand to three thousand pages. Another sign that the toner is close to running out is that the printed pages may have faded or washed out parts that result in an uneven read. Black and white printers are simpler to change than color printers because color printers require more than just the black ink. They have a combination of cyan, magenta and yellow toners as well as the black. This grouping of colors is known in the printing and imaging world as CMYK.

In order to change the cartridge in a printer, you must first make sure that the printer is off before removing the top part and thus exposing the insides of the machine. The cartridge sits on top just underneath the cover and can be removed by pulling the toner up and out with easy force. After disposing of the old toner, get the new toner ready. You must make sure that you have a compatible toner to your printer first. Take the toner out of its packaging and remove the strip so that the toner can access the printer. Look for the arrows to help guide you to which way it is supposed to be inserted.
